Vol. I: Practical Guidance in the World of Data Analytics for GRCIn this series of articles the author discusses the application of data analytics for supporting Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) efforts. Worlds of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Audit and Internal Control are moving together (convergence).
In my opening post I made clear that I have a fantastic job! Today I am going to share with you a topic that makes it even more exciting. I have a strong background in software development and audit analysis . For many years I have tried to unlock secrets from Oracle, SAP, Movex and other ERP systems, tried to find fraud on back account statements, searched for lost revenue and indicated improvement areas by measuring process efficiency. It is exciting and the results always amaze people, "Where did you get this information?!" People with Skills in the area of data analysis with a particular GRC focus are rare. Especially for those that have a business background which typically is required to appropriately understand the outcome and to make interesting management comments. Knowledge on subject in the market is rare.
To help discussion and development surrounding data analysis especially from a GRC viewpoint, I am writing a series of articles on the topic. The first article Through Different Glasses discusses different applications of data analytics for GRC and the next articles will each describe one of these views in further details with practical examples.
I hope you enjoy reading them, and if there is anything that I missed, need to add, or that you want to put up for discussion, feel free to comment! Request the article.
