BWise Announces Success of FEI Summit Sponsorship with Frank Abagnale Book Signing at Booth
New York, NY, June 13, 2007 – BWise, a leading provider of governance, risk and compliance (GRC) software solutions, today announced the success of its sponsorship at the 2007 FEI Summit, May 20-22 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston. Over 300 visitors stopped by the BWise booth to learn more about a risk-based approach to compliance and to meet Frank Abagnale, who signed copies of his newest book, “Stealing Your Life.”
With the SEC’s continued focus on compliance from a process-oriented standpoint that incorporates risk management, BWise’s booth was well attended by organizations seeking to better understand how to fully capitalize on SOX compliance and related internal control initiatives. Frank Abagnale’s presence at the booth reaffirmed the need for organizations to be keenly aware of how potential fraudulent events pose significant threats to business continuity if not managed properly as part of a larger risk management system.
“The success of the May FEI Summit underscores the growing awareness of how financial security and related internal controls are directly mapped back to efficient business processes,” stated Robert Pijselman, Chief Executive Officer of BWise. “BWise was honored to be able to host Frank Abagnale at our booth and to have the privilege of linking attendees with critical GRC information, while providing them with an opportunity to meet Mr. Abagnale and obtain his highly sought after book. It was a win-win all the way around.”
Frank Abagnale is one of the world's most respected authorities on the subjects of identity and corporate theft, forgery, embezzlement and secure documents. For over thirty years he has lectured to and consulted with hundreds of financial institutions, corporations and government agencies around the world. He lectures extensively at the FBI Academy and in 1998, he was selected as a distinguished member of "Pinnacle 400" by CNN Financial News. He was portrayed in the feature film Catch Me If You Can, nominally based on his ghost-written biography of the same name.
The event also showcased the Top Down Series, sponsored by BWise and authored by Malcolm Schwartz for the Financial Executives Research Foundation (FERF), the research affiliate of Financial Executives International (FEI). Top Down Series author Malcolm Schwartz is well-known in the field of process, risk and compliance, and one of the four principal contributors to the original COSO Report, Internal Control--Integrated Framework. The series, entitled “A Top-Down Approach to Risk Management and Internal Control” gives financial executives a comprehensive understanding of how to approach compliance through a business-benefits-oriented process. The Top Down series has been distributed to FEI members and is available to non-members at www.fei.org in the research foundation section of the website. The FEI Summit dates back to 1930. With a venue that changes each year, the program focuses on challenges facing the senior finance executive in areas of the economy, risk management, personal development and more.
