BWise Sponsors FERF Research Series by Malcolm Schwartz at 2007 FEI Summit, with Frank Abagnale and His Newest Book at Booth
New York, NY, May 1, 2007 – BWise, a leading provider of governance, risk and compliance (GRC) software solutions, today announced its sponsorship of the Top Down Series, authored by Malcolm Schwartz for the Financial Executives Research Foundation (FERF), the research affiliate of Financial Executives International (FEI). The four part series will be unveiled at the 2007 FEI Summit, May 20-22 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston.
In addition, Frank Abagnale will visit BWise booth 1010 to provide signed copies of his newest book, “Stealing Your Life”, to the first 300 visitors. Frank Abagnale is one of the world's most respected authorities on the subjects of identity and corporate theft, forgery, embezzlement and secure documents. For over thirty years he has lectured to and consulted with hundreds of financial institutions, corporations and government agencies around the world. He lectures extensively at the FBI Academy and in 1998, he was selected as a distinguished member of "Pinnacle 400" by CNN Financial News. He was portrayed in the feature film Catch Me If You Can, nominally based on his ghost-written biography of the same name.
Top Down Series author Malcolm Schwartz is well-known in the field of process, risk and compliance, and one of the four principal contributors to the original COSO Report, Internal Control--Integrated Framework. The series, entitled “A Top-Down Approach to Risk Management and Internal Control”, is broken into four parts that give financial executives a comprehensive understanding of how to approach compliance through a business-benefits-oriented process including:
• Having A Business-Process Focus Tied to Business Planning
• Using an Aggregated Risk Assessment to Reduce Documentation Costs
• Using a Process Point of View to Reduce Documentation Costs
• Relying on Ongoing Monitoring to Test Controls Performance, to Reduce the Scope of Separate Testing
“Malcolm Schwartz is one of the most important thought leaders in the GRC arena and BWise is honored to have the opportunity to partner with him for this FEI research series on compliance and internal control,” stated Robert Pijselman, Chief Executive Officer of BWise. “We are pleased to be able to support FEI in its important mission of educating financial executives on how to achieve improved sustainability through smart and innovative best practices.”
“The secret to effective compliance lies in the ability to fully integrate the effort into a business-centric process that takes a top-down managerial approach delivered from a bottom-up plan,” stated Malcolm Schwartz. “BWise understands this approach well and has made it a core part of their offering. I am pleased to be affiliated with them to provide this informative FERF Top Down series that is designed to help companies strengthen internal control while concurrently reducing risk.”
