Nasdaq Positioned in Leaders Quadrant of the First Ever Magic Quadrant for Operational Risk Management for its BWise Solution

New York and Den Bosch, the Netherlands, December 16, 2014 - Nasdaq (Nasdaq: NDAQ) announced today that it is has been positioned as a Leader for its BWise solution, a global leader in Governance, Risk Management and Compliance (GRC) software, in Gartner’s first Magic Quadrant for Operational Risk Management Report by John A. Wheeler and Paul E. Proctor, published on December 15, 2014. Seventeen companies across the globe were evaluated and positioned in the report based on their “completeness of vision” and “ability to execute”.

The Gartner Magic Quadrant report states, “Operational risk management (ORM) is part of a growing category of corporate governance, risk and compliance (GRC) software applications that is focused on supporting more formal ORM practices as a key component of a broader enterprise risk management (ERM) program.”

“We are pleased that Gartner has recognized Nasdaq as a leader for its BWise solution for operational risk management capabilities,” said Peter de Verdier, Vice President, Market Technology, Nasdaq. “BWise is the corner stone of Nasdaq’s GRC offerings, supporting both private and listed companies to manage governance, risk and compliance issues. We believe in the GRC market and we will continue to invest in this space.”

The report states, “By providing a better understanding of the risks to business objectives, ORM enables better business performance and capital allocation. ORM applications also help companies address the increasing pressure from regulators to improve the risk reporting in annual reports, and to improve the board of directors' role in enterprise wide ORM oversight.”

“Working with clients in the financial sector over the past twenty years has allowed us to understand their processes and requirements, enabling us to further develop our enterprise GRC platform to encompass an operational risk management solution,” said Luc Brandts, Head of R&D and Strategy, BWise. “Companies often come to us looking for an ORM solution as a starting point and then add on additional solutions, utilizing the platform for a single risk language throughout the entire organization. We are proud to be recognized by Gartner as one of the leaders in the Magic Quadrant for Operational Risk Management.”
